Sustainable & Energy Efficient Heating
LEED – Green Building
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally-recognized green building certification system. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
The LEED Green Building Rating System provides credits following performance standards for the various categories, including Integrative Process (IP), Location and Transportation (LT), Sustainable Sites (SS), Water Efficiency (WE), Energy and Atmosphere (EA); Materials and Resources (MR); Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ); and Performance (PF).
STEP HEAT and LEED
INTEGRATIVE PROCESS (IP)
STEP HEAT is the manufacturer of STEP® heating elements and STEP® power supplies. The products are designed to offer energy efficient systems and are backed up by calculations to prove it.
The STEP® heating elements are low-voltage, AC/DC, and can be powered by solar panels or wind turbines.
All products used are non-hazardous and environmentally friendly.
INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (EQ)
The heat distribution from the STEP™ heating system enhances thermal comfort and indoor air quality. The system maintains optimal room temperature and does not burn or blow dust around to aggravate people with allergies or respiratory problems.
LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION (LT)
Electro Plastics’ facility is centrally located in Saint Louis, Missouri, and incorporates a large area for receiving credits on purchases done within a 500-mile radius of project site.
MATERIALS AND RESOURCES (MR)
In the manufacturing process most of the materials and waste are recycled and made in the USA.
