Proof of Concept: A Commitment to Sustainable Manufacturing

STEP HEAT is a member of U.S. Green Building Council and its 35,000 sq ft. manufacturing facility was registered LEED-NC 2.2. in 2007. The buildings design and materials were all chosen for their sustainability, efficiency and environmental friendly properties.

In addition to the materials, the employees’ health and comfort were fully integrated into the design process by producing an abundance of natural light in the office, warehouse and manufacturing areas. The entire facility is heated by STEP Warmfloor which provides employees with less ambient noise distraction, less exposure to allergens.

To achieve a higher rating level, STEP HEAT installed solar panels on the roof to satisfy most of their energy needs. During the manufacturing process, they use 90% recycled materials.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

In 2017 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized the STEP Heat facility’s superior energy performance, and awarded the ENERGY STAR® to Electro Plastics (STEP HEAT). The buidthat use earn the ENERGY STAR award use 35% less energy and generate 35% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than similar buildings across the nation.
